The Anchorage Chugach area is not known for being spine central. Alaska is filled with great terrain, huge ramps and some killer couloirs, but perfect spines can be harder to find. So when you find a new zone so massively stacked it can make you giddy. There are several sunny microclimates to work from this one base location, but while the crew was riding sunny steeps all week the spine zone had been buried in a persistent storm cloud only 1 mile away. The steel curtain of snow finally opened to sunshine with the deepest powder any of us had ever ridden. Luck was on our side as there was no wind and the snow was neck deep and stable even on 50+ degree pitches. All time fun!!!
